Light, ancient beams, tasteful antique furniture, ceiling-high great
windows looking over a medieval street. Come experience our very
Parisian Marais residence... one, but easily converted to two
private bedrooms!
Entirely redone in 2004, we equipped our place with the most modern
amenities, yet set in a late-18th century building only three blocks
from the Seine. We are in the heart of the best of Paris; five
minutes from Notre Dame, the same from the elegant Place des Vosge
what luxury hotel could provide all this?
Outside? The pre-revolutionary Marais quarter, a microcosm of the
treasures that make Paris, well, Paris. Sipping jasmine tea at
Mariage Freres, an elegant salon de where waiters in cool, white
linen waft by with steaming pots, glistening tarts and plump, golden
madeleines. Shop at the antique stores in Village St. Paul, a maze
of medieval courts and passages behind the the eponymous Eglise...all
in the center of gay Paris.
Inside, relax in our one-two bedroom, 76 sq cm apartment, on a high
floor fronting on the rue Roi de Sicilie. It is dominated by its
"double-sejours, two rooms separated by large, French doors. One of
these can easily become a quite private second bedroom, and comes
equipped with a new convertible sofa. Three floor-to- ceiling French
windows border the two rooms, flooding them with light. Herringbone
parquet floors throughout.
We have furnished almost entirely with antiques, including two 19th
century brass chandeliers, 18th century recommier, fauteuils,
oriental carpets, oil paintings. Oh, yes, we have two brand-new
upholstered sitting chairs at the dining room table (sent from the
US!). Walls are various shades of white, including ceiling border.
All are top of the line. And why not? NOT a for-rental rehab..we
decorated as tastefully as we could as this was our own place.
