Las Aguas is an upscale Jungle lodge in a beautiful, tropical
mountain setting. Only 12 miles down to the ocean at Dominical, we
are the first gay destination in the Southern Zone. The main lodge
(6000 sf/3 levels) sits in a private jungle reserve of 66 acres
which has 5 large waterfalls, two rivers, spring fed creeks and
kilometers of hiking trails. Toucans and Howler monkeys frequent
regularly. There is an in-ground pool and 9 person spa. The gardens
have a giant chess board and a sheltered work out area. A stay at
Las Aguas combines perfectly with a visit to Manuel Antonio.
Local area activities, include repelling the Diamante Falls (the
highest in CR) and horseback tours to the Nauyaca Falls (the
grandest in CR). Rafting trips, ocean kayak and nature/canopy tours
are available. There are guided tours of the valley on horseback. Mt
Chirripo (13,000ft) is in the Southern Zone and is a great overnight
hiking trip. Scuba and snorkeling, surfing, and whale watching (in
season) are available on easy day trips. Dominical and San Isidro de
El General are both 30 minutes away. We are 3.5 hours south of San
Jose by well maintained highway and 60 km from Manuel Antonio/Quepos.
It is our pleasure to arrange transportation for those guests that
do no have their own 4WD vehicles.
The main floor has a reception area, grande salon and dining area,
café, full bar, and a media room with projection viewing and theater
style seating. All public areas overlook the pool deck and spa. The
main lodge has 4 large suites and a standard room that can be used
as adjoining sleeping quarters. The third level is the observatory
suite with 360 degree panoramic views of the valley and the
mountains. There is a separate building below the main lodge with 3
garden apartments. Breakfast is included with all rooms. A classic
gay themed movie is shown nightly after dinner. DirectTV and
internet are provided by satellite. Water at Las Aguas comes from
our own spring fed creek and is filtered/purified and perfectly safe
for drinking. Vehicle parking is abundant however the locals tend to
prefer horses over cars. Because of our remote location, guests at
Las Aguas should have 4WD vehicles, especially in the wetter green
season. The resort is available for group rentals and can
accommodate 22 guests
Incredible views of the valley and a cooler mountain climate set Las
Aguas apart from the beach lodgings. Warm days and cool nights are
the norm. At 2100 ft elevation a/c is rarely needed. Ceiling fans
are in every room and the entire main level of the lodge is open to
the gentle breezes. Guests will enjoy waking up to coffee served on
the second floor balcony and watching the sunrise from above the
clouds. The sights and sounds of wildlife, an open-air tropical
setting and unforgettable views have all been captured in one
special place - Las Aguas Jungle Lodge.
